August: a baleful light

Finding myself in the fertile fields of the Scottish Borders at harvest time, I am struck by the dramatic, late summer light.

I couldn’t resist the urge to explore this with my lens, as the cloud shadows scuttled swiftly across the land, lending the scenes a sense of angst and foreboding.

  1. I love that your camera / your eye capture both land and sky, each of which is individually worthy of our scrutiny, and appreciation. THANK you, as always, Alison, for your capacity to find beauty in nature, and to be able to send it out to us. There is such solace in these images ….

  2. What beautiful photos! Your shots give those round bales a strange and mysterious significance, and the drama of light glancing across the fields against that dark sky is magnificent. Thank you for sharing the views of your world in this post (and many others!)
