on top of the world

DSCN8149

A couple of days ago, some friends and I just had to take advantage of the almost spring-like day and head up the hill, to my favourite lochan.

Once you’ve reached it, you’re treated to  the most spectacular 360 degree view, taking in the magnificent Torridon hills, then Slioch and Beinn Lair, Flowerdale, the village of Gairloch and then swinging west, out to sea across the Minch to the Outer Hebrides and Skye.

My Chesapeake Bay Retriever always knows, the instant we set out up the track, that we’re heading for her favourite place, too, (well, after the beach). She runs ahead, always reaching it long before we do and, barking with pure joy, dives straight into the icy waters, where she’ll usually do several circuits of the pristine lochan.
